What
God Wants You To Know
David Eldridge
If you are not a Christian there are some things God wants you to
know. These things are revealed to us
through God’s word (II Timothy 3:16,17). God wants you to
know these things so that you might receive the salvation of your soul, because
He wants not one of us to perish (II Peter 3:9). Let’s look at some things God wants you to
know.
That you are a sinner. God wants all who
have come to the point in their maturity where they can know right from wrong
to understand that they are guilty of sin.
In Romans 3:23 Paul states that, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God.” A reading of I John 1:8,10 shows us that
we have all sinned before God. We sin (miss God’s divine mark) when we either do what God has told
us not to do (I John 3:4) or leave undone those things God has commanded (James
4:17). Know you are a sinner.
That sin leads to eternal death.
Not only does God want you to be aware of your sin, but He also wants
you to see its consequences. In Romans 6:23 we are told, “...the wages of sin, is
death.” This death Paul is speaking
of is ultimately eternal separation from God in Hell (cf. Revelation
21:8). Hell is described in the Bible as
being a place of utter hopelessness, darkness, torture, and misery. Know that your sin will lead to eternal
death.
That there is a way of escape. Jesus, the only begotten son of God, came to
earth and shed His blood that your sins might be washed away (Matthew
26:28). We take advantage of this
sacrifice, escape the certainty of Hell, have the hope of heaven, and become a
Christian when we follow God’s plan. God
commands that we: hear his word and believe it (Romans 10:17), repent of our sins (Acts 17:30), confess our faith (Acts 8:37), and are baptized to have our sins
forgiven (Acts 2:38; I Peter 3:21). -- Now that you know, make sure
you do!
