The Worship Of The Church

David Eldridge

John 4:24 teaches us that “God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”  We seek to worship God in spirit, that is with the proper attitude of reverence, respect and love.  We also want to worship Him in truth meaning in the way God has prescribed in His word.  In doing so we…

Pray – Prayer is essential in the life of the Christian, it alleviates worry and is how we let our desires be made known unto God (Philippians 4:8,9).   We pray together and in private.

Sing – We sing songs of praise to God when we come together (Ephesians 5:19).  These accapella songs of praise are the fruit of the lips in which God delights (Hebrews 13:15).

Lord’s Supper – We partake of the Lord’s memorial every first day of the week.  This memorial consists of unleavened bread symbolizing his body and fruit of the vine representing his blood.  It is intended to help us keep His death in memory until he comes again (I Corinthians 11:24,25).

Preaching – The early church was taught of the need to continually be instructed in the Word (Acts 2:42).  We, knowing the saving power of this word, are continually instructed in it that we might save ourselves and be better able to teach others.
