Consider

To consider something is to “think carefully about, bear in mind, and reflect” on that thing (American Heritage Dictionary).  God tells us many things to consider.  Let us consider...

The ant.  The wise man advises, “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise” (Proverbs 6:6).  I imagine we have all seen an ant in the summer scurrying around preparing its food for the winter.  Take some time and consider the ant, for it teaches lessons concerning working hard, diligence, foresight, and the need to be prepared.

The ravens and the lilies.  In Luke 12:22-31, it seems Jesus’ disciples were concerned about the temporal things in life such as food, clothing, and shelter.  Jesus chides them for their lack of faith asking them to consider God’s care for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field.  Seeing then that they (and we) are more precious than these, Jesus says we should not worry.  So many times we find our lives filled with worry over day-to-day things such as plans, schedules, and errands that we forget the most important thing in this life – service to God.  Consider that Jesus said, “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you” (Luke 12:31).

One Another.  The apostle states that we should “…Consider one another in order to stir up love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24).  Sometimes with all the hassles of life it is easy to become self-absorbed thinking only about ourselves.  However, God demands that we be considerate of others. Consider how to help them and what we can do to encourage our familial relationship and their faithfulness.
