The Benefits Of A Vacation Bible School

David Eldridge

There are a multitude of reasons why a church would want to have a summer Bible series such as the one we have planned for June 13-17.  Let us examine some of the valuable benefits of this upcoming series.

A Good Time To Learn More About God.  With our young people being out of school for summer vacation, that should not mean that all learning stops. It is still valuable for them to continue in their spiritual education.  A spiritual education is of far more value than any education a secular institution might offer.  Your child’s most valuable possession is their soul.  Jesus said, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).

A Good Time For Families To Talk About God.  One interesting feature of this summer Bible series is that all ages will be studying the same subject, just on different levels.  These Bible-based and Bible-centered lessons are designed to encourage families to be able to share what they have learned with one another.  This benefits everyone!  One cannot stress how important it is for families to talk about God’s word (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).

A Good Time To Invite Others.  I have seen some individuals come to VBS first, and then continue coming during regular periods of Bible Study. This is a tremendous opportunity to spread God’s word and edify one another.
