Those Who Sought To See Jesus

The Bible gives us a record of some of those who desired to see Jesus.  Let us consider some of them.

Herod — In Luke 23:8, the we read, “Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.”  Many  want to see Jesus only for the things He can offer them. Let us never have this mentality.

Certain Greeks — These Greeks, in Jerusalem for the Passover, came to Philip and said, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus” (Jn 12:21).  This seemingly earnest request is one that all of us should have — that we want to see Jesus.  Too many are content to go through life without knowing Him or His power.

Zacchaeus — We read of Zacchaeus who “...sought to see who Jesus  was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature” (Lu. 19:3). So, what did Zacchaeus do?  He ran ahead and climbed a tree that he might be able to see the Lord.  He desired to see the Lord and would not let anything stand in his way.

Do you seek to see Jesus?  Do you constantly seek to see Him more clearly?  You can and should.  The Hebrew writer pens, “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” (Heb. 2:9).  By consistent study of God’s word, you can see Jesus! You can see the Redeemer, Savior, Friend, and King that the Bible reveals.  Have you seen Him?
